Great app for both poker beginners and those whove played a lot. I already see the board quicker and better than ever, and Im a better player because of it. Totally different than every other poker app out there. Im glad I found it.

For 99 cents, you will get so fast at reading the cards in Texas Hold em, you will easily win that money back next time you get together with your poker friends. I feel much more confident in my game, and am looking forward to kicking some a*s in vegas next time I go! This will be the best 99 cents you ever spend in the app store. Would easily have paid 10 bucks for such an effective training tool. Buy it, BUY IT NOOOOOW!!
Im so happy I stumbled upon this application. Its fun, it has a great interface, and Im learning how to quickly identify not only the best possible hand, but the second and third as well. My favorite is playing in Progressive mode, where I can follow the best hands from the flop through the river. A bluffer by nature... Im really getting a sense for when Im just playing recklessly. A must have for any Hold Em player!
This is a good app,and Im glad I came across it. Its a simple idea but a good exercise. Most people probably wont appreciate it.
This app is a great trainer! Ive been on an iPhone Texas hold em binge and could not figure out what I was doing wrong- why I wasnt getting better. This app helps me recognize all the possibilities and makes me think about & analyze my moves, as a good player should do. However, I have a couple of suggestions: when you make a wrong move, the correct move flashes by too quickly and you dont get a chance to see what should have been the right move. An option to hold and look at it before it goes to the next card would be great. Plus, I would love to see the cards at the bottom of the screen made larger or less cumbersome to scroll through. Make them a little larger, stack them, whatever....please! All in all a fabulous app! Tweak it a bit and itll be 5 star worthy!
It helps a bit, but does not recognize the "real game" 2nd and 3rd nuts. i.e., if the board pairs (TT) the nuts would be quads (TTTT). The 2nd nuts would be a full house (TT888). The 3rd would be a smaller full house or maybe a staight or set. This game puts the 2nd and 3rd nuts as TTTT with a smaller kicker? 2 players cant have the same pair of TT in the hole with TT on the board. If the game could be fixed to recognize the 2nd and 3rd "true nuts" it would be worth it.
I always shy away from playing poker, or any table games for that matter, bacause Im embarassed that I know so little about how to play them. This app is great because its giving me the opportunity to learn without even having to play a full game yet, and of course more importantly - without anyone watching!
I really really like this trainer. Thank you author! Im not giving so much praise as the other reviews are spot on. Excellent app! 1. The card input system is horrible. Cards above the bottom deck are unnecessarily big. Please check other poker apps for better ways to input cards. My recommendation is a variation on yours. You could double up the cards on bottom. Stack them two high so all spades and clubs show at once. Then hard scroll to right or left so all hearts and diamonds show at once. And by "hard scroll" I mean not a smooth scroll where you see the cards smoothly scrolling off the screen, but more like a "page down" in Microsoft word where you instantly see the other screen. Another version of card input is where you have no scroll and all elements to choose the cards are on one screen. The best example is iphone app called SidePod. First choose number then suit. This adds an extra button for each card, but puts all elements on one page and those elements are large. In the end, the extra button push is minimized by the much faster pace of the game. 2. After you make a mistake, have a "continue" button so I can pause and review my mistake. 3. Sometimes the "true" 2nd and 3rd nuts are not correct. In the Flop only sequence of the game (not progressive), flushes for example are wrong. In this example, all are same suit. Flop is 4 7 J. True 1st nuts is Ace and any other suited card. 2nd is King and any other suited card. Third is Queen and any other suited card. But this game says A K, then A Q, then A 10 are the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd nuts. No. 3 seems like a tragedy, but I consider it minor compared to the benefit I would get if a better card input system were done. Please fix that first. Id gladly pay again for speedier/easier input. Thank you author.
1. You get less than a second to review your incorrect choice and see the correct selection. You should be able to set the delay and have an optional OK button you need to click to proceed. 2. Second and third nuts are often incorrect, leading to much confusion, frustration, and lack of positive reinforcement when you actually get them right. The problem is that the program fails to assume that each player, by default of the rules of Hold Em, will be using the highest kicker on the board. This means that if the following hand is dealt on the board: K K 2 4 7, the program will say that K K using the 7 as the kicker is the nuts and that K K using the 4 as the kicker is the second nuts. This really isnt helpful for someone trying to sharpen their hand predicting skills. It would be best if the nuts was considered the absolute best pocket cards for a given board and the second nuts assumed that the nuts cards were out of play. This way you would practice with a real world scenario where there are no possibilities of duplicate cards like this app is representing. However, if you keep this in mind while using the app, or you just stick to the nuts and leave the second and third nuts alone, youll probably see some improvement in your table assessment time. Its still worth the buck or two I paid, but I wouldnt go all in on it. ;)
Im new to the game and this app really helped me understand the cards... Whats the stingray possible hand and how my hand compares.
Helps beginners get use to getting a good look at the flop quickly and analyzing the best hands and how their hand stacks up.
This app is terrible. You dont learn anything from it. The answer is always: pick 2 of the same card to get 4 of a kind. Do not waste even $0.99 on it.
I dont get what other people are saying, this app totally works. My game has greatly improved. Its pretty easy to find the best hand (the nuts) but finding the second best or third best is truly challenging and a great way to improve your game. The app is simple, clean, and easy to use unlike alot of the crap out there. If youre new to Hold em or looking to get an edge, great training tool.
Updating my previous review for the new version: Still love this app. has definitely helped me win some more dough in my games with friends. I really like the continue button. It gives me time to see what I did wrong and learn from my mistakes. Great app for the money! ORIGINAL REVIEW ON V. 1 Im definitely not a good poker player and havent played enough to get good. Thats why this app is so good. Its one of the only poker training games i could find. So I can have fun and get better at the same time.
I am new to HoldEm and in just a short while on this app, my skills have really improved! Note to new users.... first go to the "Help" window on the home page to learn what hands are the best. Then just have fun! Its like having your own private dealer, and after a few short sessions youll be ready to take on your friends, and win some greenbacks! Holdem Haley
For second and third best-hands games, it would reinforce the teaching aspect to have the option to show what the higher hands would be: for example, for second best hand it could offer to show wha the first best hand was... Add this and this game is easily worth the money. Also, I agree with the other comments that this does not represent what would happen in "true hands" for second and third nuts. Making this change would also improve the teaching aspect in that players would be learning yo identify hands rather than card progressions.
I think this is a great tool. The graphics are nothing special, but this is a good app. Its an important skill for all poker players to have. Bravo!
This app is very helpful. I always thought poker was random and all about bluffing. This app showed me theres actually some logic to it. Thanks!
This app gets one thing wrong that Ive noticed so far... If there is a straight flush possible on the board, e.g., 7d 8d 9d there are two possible nuts. 6d 10d or 10d Jd. This program says that 6d 10d is the second best possible hand, it is in a world where decks can have 2 10ds, but if you have that hand in a game, you do have the nuts, i.e., the highest straight flush. The real second best hand in this scenario is 5d 6d.
Needs major help, reset button doesnt work and it starts you back from the beginning if you try to move forward...
